About Dr. Cona
The Strand Medical Centre was established in May of 1998. Founder and Medical Director, Louis A. Cona, M.D., originally from New York, is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, The General Medical Council, U.K., The British Medical Association (BMA), The Caribbean College of Family Physicians and the Cayman Islands Medical & Dental Society (Past President and present executive council member).

Dr. Cona also has affiliations with the International Center Programs, as a Fellow, with Kendall Regional Medical Center, Miami and Baptist Health Systems of South Florida.

International Programs provide an extensive service overseas in Miami. Our patients have immediate access to these facilities if needed, and are assigned a representative who will arrange their complete itinerary, from the private airport pick up, accompanying patients to and from their medical appointments and procedures, and back to the airport for return to Cayman. Most health insurance companies accept this service.
  
Locally, Dr. Cona has affiliation with The Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital, a private state of the art medical facility, located in Georgetown.

He is also affiliated with St Matthews University, School of Medicine, as a clinical preceptor for students entering into basic clinical studies, where students “shadow” him at the Medical Centre.

Dr. Cona specializes in various areas of general medicine, including, allergy related conditions, allergy testing, asthma/pulmonary medicine, dermatological disorders, skin lesions, Scuba diving related-disorders, emergency medicine, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, hypertension, minor trauma/surgical conditions, musculo-skeletal disorders, Sports related injuries, obesity/medically supervised weight reduction program, pediatric care, and geriatric care.
